Secure
The MCE system uses the RDP protocol to facilitate remote access. RDP connections are protected by 128bit security encryption. It is the same security level you trust when using SSL webpages to send your personal and/or credit card data. Working in the office, at home, or from across the world, your MCE session is secure.
VPN - When using a VPN (virtual private network), you are connecting your local computer to your remote office network through an encrypted tunnel. The end result is that your computer thinks it is sitting in the office, connected to the office network. This poses a security risk because even if there is virus protection and all security holes have been patched on all the computers in the office, a virus or hacker on a remote computer connected via VPN could do just as much damage to files on the office network as a virus on an in-house computer.
MCE - Because the MCE system uses RDP sessions, the remote user is segregated from the office network. Viruses on remote computers cannot access data or destroy files on the office network because it has no ability to cross the RDP connection. Viruses can't "see" any office network, therefore they cannot cause harm. For the same reasons, computers in the office that may have viruses on them do not pose a threat to the MCE system, or the data stored on it.
Fast
To see why the MCE system is a fast remote access solution, you must follow the data.
VPN - When using a VPN (virtual private network), you work with remote files (located in your office) on your local computer. When you open a file across the VPN, you are moving large amounts of data across an encrypted VPN tunnel. Your internet connection is slow enough to cause drowsiness, but tack on the extra time needed to encrypt, send, and decrypt your data, it all adds up to a painfully slow remote access solution.
MCE - The MCE system uses an RDP session, which allows you to do the all work on the MCE system. You will not be opening any application on your local computer, nor will you be moving any files or data over the secure RDP connection. All work is done on the server, and the data never leaves the office network. This lack of data shuffling is what makes the MCE system such a fast remote access solution.
Safe
Because data never leaves the office when working remotely, it means virus or hacker attack on the remote user's PC will not endanger any files or company information. Additionally, many times notebook computers, a favorite target for thieves, will be employed to work remotely. Because no company data resides on the notebook, a stolen laptop or notebook does not result in a breech of company security or a loss of company intellectual property. This also applies to a burglarized office.
